Lahore erupts in violence as TLP clashes with police

Lahore’s streets erupted in chaos this weekend as the radical group Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) clashed with police after being stopped from marching to the capital. The group’s “Gaza march” aimed to show support for Palestinians, but things quickly turned violent. As tensions skyrocketed, protesters threw stones, and cops fired tear gas and bullets to keep them back.

TLP claimed two of their members were killed, with 50 others wounded. The unrest began Thursday and only got worse as the days went on. Schools were shut, internet and mobile services cut, and locals were left struggling with disruptions.

TLP’s leader, Saad Rizvi, defiantly called for the march, declaring that bullets or even martyrdom wouldn’t stop them. Critics slammed the group online, but TLP hit back, accusing the government of heavy-handedness.
