LNG Croatia doubles capacity at Krk terminal

Croatia will double its natural gas processing ability after equipment upgrades at a facility on Krk Island. The floating terminal returned on Sunday from Turkey, where workers installed a second regasification system and completed maintenance. Maximum output will climb from 3.1 billion to 6.1 billion cubic meters annually when operations resume on Saturday, October 26.

The Norwegian-designed module weighs 470 tons and costs 16.6 million euros to build and install at the Kuzey Star shipyard. LNG Croatia leased all terminal space for the next dozen years before the expansion began. The project supports European Union efforts to secure alternative energy supplies for Croatia and neighboring nations in central and southeastern Europe.
