Opatija to welcome new Sealeven hotel

A luxury resort will debut near Opatija in early 2026, following construction at the Ičići site. Slovenian businessman Joc Pečečnik controls half the ownership through his Dutch firm Elektroncek Group, while Croatian partners Jasna Brajković and Ivona Maržić each hold 25 percent stakes. Grand Metropolitan Hotels will operate Sealeven Hotel & Residences under the Destination by Hyatt franchise agreement with owner company Projekt Galerija.

The property features 85 apartments spread across 11 buildings positioned above the existing Ičići Hotel. Workers are finishing renovations and landscaping at the site that combines modern design with regional character. Pečečnik made his fortune selling Interblock, a gaming machine manufacturer that reportedly brought 300 million euros. The developer said the branded residences introduce a fresh hospitality model to the northern Adriatic coast with support from experienced international partners.
