Lwin Oo bags ASEAN anti-graft spotlight
A Myanmar delegation led by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman U Lwin Oo attended the 21st Principals Meeting of the ASEAN Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 28 to 30. The event was chaired by Malaysian Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj. Azam Baki, who confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewed anti-corruption activities carried out between December 2024 and July 2025. Member states also updated and refined their regional work plans for 2026 to 2028.
U Lwin Oo emphasized corruption’s harm to the public, the role of public-private partnerships, and Myanmar’s ongoing anti-corruption strategies, including enforcement of the Myanmar Anti-Corruption Law and the commission’s three core mandates. On the second day, he advocated for deeper ASEAN-PAC collaboration and thanked Malaysia for approving Myanmar as the next host country. The delegation also joined a side event highlighting preventive measures and toured facilities arranged by Malaysia’s Anti-Corruption Commission.
The ACC chairman held informal talks with counterparts from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and Thailand to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The Myanmar delegation returned to Yangon on the afternoon of October 31.
