Madagascar military seizes power after Rajoelina flees
Madagascar’s military grabbed control of the island, says Colonel Michael Randrianirina. The president bailed out after getting pushed by young protesters and cops. Randrianirina, who led the soldiers siding with Gen Z, told everyone the army’s in charge and is shutting down most government spots except the lower house of parliament.
President Rajoelina ran off on a French jet after trying to ditch the assembly. He’s still refusing to leave, despite all the protests and army defections. The crowd in the capital cheered as Randrianirina asked if they were cool with the army taking over. Protesters were dancing, singing, and calling Rajoelina a French puppet because of his citizenship and ties to France.
