Man killed by DSCC truck in Jatrabari
A garbage truck operated by Dhaka South City Corporation struck and killed a pedestrian in the Jatrabari neighborhood on Thursday night. Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, 35, died at the scene after the vehicle hit him near Kolapotti around 10 p.m. as he walked home from his job at a laundry shop. Police Sub-Inspector Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said the victim lived with his wife and child in a rented residence.
Authorities recovered the body and transported it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy early on Friday. Officers confiscated the truck and began legal proceedings against those responsible. Hossain’s older brother, Tarikul Islam Faruk, told investigators the truck was traveling at high speed when it struck the pedestrian. The victim originally came from Paschim Chokra village in Banaripara Upazila, located in Barishal district.
