Manipur launches PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, pulses mission
On Saturday, Manipur joined the nationwide launch of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, aimed at revolutionizing agriculture and ensuring nutritional security. The event, held at the MSFDS Auditorium in Imphal, saw participation from key officials including Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel and ACS officers.
During the event, awards and agricultural equipment were distributed to farmers, recognizing their hard work. Goel praised the initiatives as a testament to Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, especially highlighting the integration of 36 schemes to target the 100 least developed agricultural districts, with Tamenglong District selected from Manipur for focused development.
The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, with over Rs 11,000 crore in funding, aims to boost pulse production and reduce imports. As part of this, 88 lakh seed kits will be provided to farmers. Goel emphasized the need for district-level action plans, tailored to local conditions, to ensure the schemes’ success. He urged farmers and officials to make region-specific decisions, promoting practices like animal husbandry, fisheries, and even beekeeping where applicable.
