Min Aung Hlaing enjoys lavish Russian performance
Myanmar’s military chief attended a Russian cultural performance on Tuesday at a convention center in the capital, where a Siberian ensemble showcased traditional music and dance. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, joined government officials at Myanmar International Convention Centre I to watch the Chaldony State Song and Dance Ensemble from Novosibirsk perform their program titled Great Russia and Siberia.
The military leader emphasized diplomatic ties between the two nations spanning more than seven decades. He said artistic exchanges strengthen bonds between Myanmar and Russia while allowing local audiences to experience Siberian traditions. Novosibirsk Governor Andrey Travnikov thanked his hosts for the invitation and praised Myanmar’s cultural wealth. The governor explained the ensemble’s name honors early Siberian settlers and works to preserve regional folk traditions through music.
Performers from both countries participated in the program, which featured Russian classical pieces and folklore-inspired dance numbers. The Russian group presented bread and salt to the senior general in a customary gesture symbolizing hospitality. Gift exchanges between the military leader and the visiting governor concluded the event after Myanmar received a closing musical tribute from the Siberian artists.
