Min Aung Hlaing tours quake ruins

Myanmar’s military leader, Min Aung Hlaing, toured construction sites across Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, reviewing reconstruction efforts following the recent earthquake. The senior general examined repairs to parliament buildings, roads, and bridges while emphasizing the need for structures that can withstand natural disasters.

Officials briefed Min Aung Hlaing on plans for a new People’s Square and an entertainment venue near City Hall, where traditional festivals will be held. He instructed workers to prioritize structural integrity over aesthetics and maintain detailed records of all damage and repair work.

The inspection included the parliament complex entrance bridge, where engineers used advanced lifting technology to repair five spans weighing a combined 7,500 tons. Min Aung Hlaing also reviewed proposals for a gateway arch on Razathingaha Road and ordered improvements to roadside maintenance throughout the capital.
