Mirza Fakhrul says Bangladesh election will shape future
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Secretary General, stated that the upcoming national election in February will shape Bangladesh’s future. He emphasized that there is no substitute for democracy and suggested a national referendum could be held alongside the election.
Fakhrul spoke at a BNP meeting in Thakurgaon, warning against losing the chance to restore democracy. He stressed that people want an election where they can freely choose their leaders. Fakhrul also claimed that BNP is the most persecuted party, with many leaders, including Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, facing imprisonment, torture, and exile.
