Myanmar cracks down on KK Park scam hub

Myanmar authorities have dismantled more than 100 structures at the KK Park compound in Myawady township after expelling thousands of foreign nationals who entered illegally to operate online fraud and gambling schemes. Officials reported that 101 of 148 buildings have been razed, with demolition continuing on the remaining facilities that once included hotels, hospitals, entertainment venues and residential towers.

Between late January and early November, authorities detained 10,762 illegal immigrants connected to cybercrime operations, predominantly individuals who crossed from Thailand. Nearly 9,400 have been repatriated through Thai border crossings, while approximately 1,360 remain in custody pending deportation arrangements.

The government has extended its crackdown beyond Kayin State to target similar operations in northeastern and eastern Shan State, working alongside regional partners and international organizations to prosecute those involved in digital scam networks.
