Myanmar delegation explores energy transition in China

Myanmar’s Electric Power Minister Nyan Tun toured Chinese renewable energy facilities and attended a forum on power grid security this week. The minister examined offshore wind stations and solar control systems at China Huaneng Group in Nanjing on Tuesday before visiting a biomass fuel plant that converts agricultural waste into industrial briquettes.

Officials traveled to Suzhou on Wednesday to study artificial intelligence energy management and carbon reduction technology at the Xiangcheng EDZ Energy Centre. Nyan Tun told attendees at the International Forum on Energy Transition that Myanmar needs global partnerships to expand its solar, wind and hydropower capacity.

The minister said renewable sources will stabilize Myanmar’s energy system as the country develops clean power projects. Representatives from universities, research centers and power operators participated in discussions about preventing risks to large electrical grids.
