Myanmar highlights energy security at China forum

Myanmar’s Energy Minister Ko Ko Lwin spoke at a Chinese forum on Wednesday about the country’s power transition plans and met with officials to discuss cooperation. The minister addressed energy security challenges and investment opportunities in Myanmar’s sector at the International Forum on Energy Transition organized by China’s National Energy Administration.

Ko Ko Lwin held talks with Wang Hongzhi from the Chinese energy agency about bilateral partnerships in technology, financing and workforce training for renewable power development. Chinese representatives said their nation wants to expand energy collaboration with Myanmar based on Myanmar’s strategic location, following work with Middle Eastern and African partners.

The minister toured the exhibition areas and met with energy officials from multiple nations at the event. Discussions covered Myanmar’s power situation and the need for international support to meet climate goals through clean energy projects.
