Myanmar detains 51 foreigners in fraud crackdown
Myanmar authorities detained 51 foreign nationals in Kayin State for involvement in telecom fraud and other crimes. The group includes 31 Chinese, 15 Filipinos, four Indonesians, and one Pakistani.
From 30 January to 13 October 2025, 9,490 illegal immigrants were detained nationwide. Of these, 9,337 have been deported via Thailand, while 153 remain in custody awaiting repatriation.
The government continues its crackdown on online scams and gambling in coordination with neighboring countries.
