Myanmar, Laos eye worker ID deal

Myanmar’s labor minister met with the Myanmar-Lao Friendship Association on Tuesday to advance worker protections between the two nations. U Aung Kyaw Hoe discussed bilateral labor agreements with delegation leader U Win Maung at the ministry offices in Nay Pyi Taw.

Officials reviewed plans to create identity certificates for undocumented Myanmar citizens employed in Laos. The ministry will establish a task force to process documentation and verify employment procedures in accordance with standardized protocols.

Permanent secretaries and association representatives joined the morning session. The government aims to strengthen protections for Myanmar workers abroad through formal cooperation frameworks.
