Myanmar navy deepens Russia ties

Myanmar’s navy chief returned to Yangon on Sunday after completing a friendship mission to Russia aimed at strengthening military ties between the two nations. Admiral Htein Win led the delegation that spent a week visiting naval facilities and shipyards across the Russian Federation.

The group toured a submarine brigade in Vladivostok on Monday, where Russian Pacific Fleet officers displayed vessels and submarines. They examined shipbuilding operations at two Saint Petersburg facilities that construct and repair military craft using modern composite materials.

Russian Navy Commander Admiral Aleksandr A. Moiseev hosted the visitors at headquarters on Thursday. The two leaders reviewed ceremonial troops and discussed expanding training programs and operational partnerships.

The delegation also met with Saint Petersburg officials on Friday to explore broader cooperation between the countries. Yangon Command officers and the Russian military attache greeted the returning team at the airport.
