Myanmar party leaders present policies, emphasize human rights and education

Senior members of the United Nationalities Democracy Party, Naw Ohn Hla and Naw Su Su Hlaing, recently outlined their party’s platform in a broadcast. Naw Ohn Hla, the party’s vice-chairperson, stated that the group aims to build a democratic and federal union where all ethnic groups enjoy equal social rights and full legal protection. She emphasized collaboration with like-minded political organizations to achieve these goals.

The party advocates for a Union that fully respects human rights as a core value, actively preventing violations and addressing the needs of displaced persons. It also pledges to focus on workers and farmers, aiming to improve their livelihoods and ensure their rights, including workplace safety and freedom from forced labor.

Naw Su Su Hlaing added that the party would prioritize educational reform, supporting a modern system that includes multilingual and mother-tongue-based instruction. She confirmed that their efforts are intended to demonstrate that state power ultimately resides with the citizens.
