NENP chair Daw Win Kay Khine Aye presents party goals for Myanmar’s democratic future
The New Empowerment National Party, a regional party for Yangon, publicly outlined its platform in a recent broadcast. Its chairperson, Daw Win Kay Khine Aye, identified the upcoming multiparty democratic general election as a fundamental process for citizens to exercise their rights. She stated that her party believes in achieving democracy through democratic means and would therefore contest the election.
The party advocates for a democratic and federal union, emphasizing the need to end internal armed conflicts through dialogue with ethnic armed groups. It also calls for a strong, modern Tatmadaw to defend the Union. On economic policy, the party stressed that national development requires sufficient electricity, foreign investment, and supportive government regulations for private enterprise. It pledged to work for the improvement of people’s lives and the maintenance of stability.
