Naxal violence declines as affected districts drop to three
The government’s efforts to achieve a Naxal-free Bharat are showing significant progress, with the number of districts most affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE) reduced from six to three. Currently, only Bijapur, Sukma, and Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh remain heavily impacted by LWE. The overall number of affected districts has also decreased from 18 to 11.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that the Naxal threat will be eliminated by March 31, 2026. In recent years, over 300 LWE cadres have been killed, 836 arrested, and 1,639 surrendered. The success is attributed to the rigorous implementation of the National Action Plan and Policy, which has led to a sharp decline in Naxal activity across the country.
