NCP expels Muntasir Mahmud for repeated misconduct
The National Citizen Party permanently expelled southern regional organizer Muntasir Mahmud on Wednesday for persistent disruptive conduct despite repeated organizational warnings. Party leaders cited his failure to heed directives for restraint and unsatisfactory responses during disciplinary proceedings as justification for the decision.
Mahmud had faced temporary suspension on October 12 after staging a demonstration at the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society headquarters in Maghbazar. He lost his deputy director position at the relief organization on the same day. Party convenor Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhter Hossen finalized his permanent removal following his inadequate written explanation provided on October 14. The party accused Mahmud of violating internal protocols even while under review and ignoring explicit requests to maintain order during sensitive periods. This action concludes internal proceedings initiated after his public allegations against Red Crescent leadership earlier that month.
