Netanyahu back in court as corruption trial continues
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared in a Tel Aviv court on Wednesday for a hearing in his ongoing corruption trial, which began in May 2020. Despite being heckled by protesters, Netanyahu maintained a smile as he attended with several ministers from his Likud party. The trial involves three separate corruption cases, including allegations that Netanyahu and his wife received over $260,000 in luxury goods in exchange for political favors. He also faces charges of attempting to influence media coverage. Netanyahu denies the accusations, calling them a political attack. US President Donald Trump recently suggested Netanyahu should be pardoned, a proposal echoed in the Knesset. Additionally, Netanyahu faces an ICC arrest warrant for alleged war crimes related to Israel’s actions in Gaza.
