Newly elected RUCSU reps take oath after 35 years
Rajshahi University administered oaths to student union leaders on Sunday, ending a 35-year gap in campus representation after elections. Vice Chancellor Saleh Hasan Naqib swore in central representatives while residence hall directors handled their respective union members at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium.
Vice President Mostakur Rahman Zahid said the ceremony marks a fresh start for the institution. General Secretary Salahuddin Ammar pledged to request financial records from administrators and produce spending reports after one year of service. Assistant General Secretary SM Salman Sabbir promised quick action on student welfare matters.
The Islami Chhatra Shibir movement backed winning candidates who claimed 20 of 23 available positions in the October voting. Winners will serve 12-month terms across the central union, senate, and residential halls. Provosts and senior faculty attended the afternoon event.
