Osijek Airport gets major facelift, eyes new flights
Osijek Airport is undergoing a 14.3 million euro modernization that will bring its terminal up to Schengen standards and significantly expand its capacity. Construction began in 2025 and is on track for completion by March 28, 2026. The project marks the airport’s first major reconstruction since the original terminal was built and includes a new facade, climate control systems, expanded passenger areas, and dedicated zones for customs, police, retail, and administration.
The terminal’s size will increase from 2,200 to 2,800 square meters, featuring improvements such as a covered drop-off area to protect travelers from adverse weather conditions. Officials say air traffic has continued uninterrupted during construction, with flights to Munich and London already boosting passenger numbers to triple their 2021 levels. Local leaders confirmed plans to add more international routes after the renovation finishes, calling the upgrade one of the largest transport infrastructure investments in eastern Croatia.
