Pag cheese eyes Brazil store takeover
Pag cheese, a well-known Croatian dairy product, may soon be available in stores across Brazil, Latin America’s largest economy. The potential expansion follows a recent visit by Martina Pernar Škunca, marketing manager at the Pag Cheese Factory and president of the Pag Cheese Producers Association, as part of an official European Union agri-food delegation led by EU Agriculture and Food Commissioner Christophe Hansen.
The invitation stemmed from the Croatian Chamber of Agriculture’s participation in a May conference at the European Parliament on Mediterranean farming and the Common Agricultural Policy, where Pag cheese was presented to the commissioner. Each year, the EU selects food producers from member states with strong export potential to participate in international trade missions, taking into account product diversity, geographic representation, and participant qualifications.
Brazil, home to 220 million consumers, is the dominant economy among Mercosur nations. The move marks a significant opportunity for Pag cheese, already popular globally, to enter a major new market.
