Perak tourism to benefit from RM1,000 tax relief for local attractions
The new RM1,000 tax relief for entry fees to local tourist spots and cultural programs, announced in Budget 2026, is set to give Perak’s tourism industry a major boost. State tourism chief Loh Sze Yee believes the incentive will not only help locals save money but also drive more visitors to explore the state’s eco-tourism, heritage, and cultural offerings.
Loh emphasized that the relief will also support small businesses in the tourism sector and help stimulate the local economy. The state government is ramping up efforts to promote tourism as part of preparations for Visit Malaysia 2026, focusing on community-based tourism, cultural events, and sustainable initiatives.
Loh is confident that this measure will revive post-pandemic tourism and position Perak as a top destination for domestic travelers. He also suggested the government consider offering extra leave to those using the incentive, encouraging even more Malaysians to vacation within the country.
