PMEGP empowers youth like Shakir Khan to create jobs
Prime Minister Modi wants to help young people in India become financially independent and find good jobs. To do this, the government is running the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The scheme gives loans and subsidies to help young people start small businesses, giving them a chance to become independent and create jobs for others.
In Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district, Shakir Khan used the PMEGP loan to open a restaurant. This loan helped him support his family and build a steady income. He is grateful for the program and thanked Prime Minister Modi for it.
PMEGP was launched in 2008 and helps create jobs by supporting micro-businesses. The scheme will continue through 2025, aiming to help 4 lakh businesses and create 30 million jobs.
