POTRAZ backs ICT research to drive Smart Zimbabwe Vision

Research in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is critical to Zimbabwe’s push toward the Smart Zimbabwe 2030 Vision, according to Dr. Gift Machengete, Director General of the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ). At an ICT Research Symposium in Masvingo, he emphasized POTRAZ’s commitment to turning research into real-world solutions for Zimbabwean communities.

Through the POTRAZ ICT Research Journal, university partnerships, and the Innovation Fund, the country is nurturing homegrown solutions. The Second Edition of the ICT Research Journal was launched at the event, reflecting the nation’s focus on ICT research and innovation to drive development. Academic leaders, including Great Zimbabwe University’s Vice Chancellor, stressed the importance of research excellence that improves the livelihoods of Zimbabweans and fosters a vibrant research culture. The symposium is themed “Advancing Digital Transformation through Progressive ICT Research.”
