Protests erupt nationwide demanding justice for children’s rights and safety

A protest titled “The Voice of the People Against Violence Against Children” took place in Sofia in front of the Courthouse, where citizens gathered at 11:00 a.m. to support children’s rights and better protection. Organized by the “We are not silent” initiative on Facebook, the protest briefly blocked tram traffic on Vitosha Blvd. Similar protests occurred in Burgas and Varna.

Protesters demanded permanent video surveillance in schools and kindergartens, with recordings kept for at least six months. They also called for teacher training, a national public register of convicted pedophiles, and a transparent investigation into a case of violence in a kindergarten in Kableshkovo.

Posters at the protest included messages like “The teacher should educate, not traumatize” and “Violence today leads to violence tomorrow.” Demonstrators stressed the need for justice, safe environments for children, and stronger measures against violence.
