Rahmat Shah ruled out of ODI and Test due to calf tear

Afghanistan’s middle-order batter Rahmat Shah has been ruled out of the third ODI against Bangladesh and the upcoming one-off Test against Zimbabwe due to a high-grade calf tear sustained during the second ODI in Abu Dhabi. The 31-year-old was forced to retire hurt after injuring his left calf while batting on October 11.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that Shah will be sidelined for several weeks, with reports indicating the injury requires extended rehabilitation. The ACB’s medical team is consulting overseas specialists to ensure the best care for his recovery.

Shah, who had recently become the first Afghan batsman to score 4,000 ODI runs, made a crucial half-century in the first ODI. His absence is a significant blow for Afghanistan as they face Zimbabwe on October 20 and Bangladesh on October 14. No replacement has been announced yet.
