Rajnath Singh says UN faces crisis of trust
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday called for urgent reforms in the United Nations, saying the current structure cannot handle today’s global challenges and suffers from a crisis of confidence. Speaking at the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ Chiefs’ Conclave in New Delhi, he emphasized the need for inclusive and updated multilateralism focused on human welfare.
Singh highlighted India’s longstanding role in peacekeeping, its leadership in training through the Centre for UN Peacekeeping, and its push for greater say for troop-contributing nations in mission planning. He also praised the role of Indian women peacekeepers, citing their impact in Liberia and ongoing contributions in global missions.
Representatives from over 30 countries are attending the event, reaffirming India’s commitment to global peace and cooperation.
