Rasika Dugal discusses lack of female-led comedic roles in film

Actress Rasika Dugal, who explored her comedic chops in the black comedy Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, says there’s a lack of comedic roles for women. She’s always wanted to try comedy and finds black comedy a perfect fit, as it lets her find humor in even unsettling situations.

However, Rasika pointed out the scarcity of female-led comedic roles, noting that women possess an inherent sense of humor. “How else would we survive this patriarchal world?” she quipped.

Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, directed by Anshuman Jha, is a Hitchcockian chamber drama shot entirely on a single lens in the UK. The film blends suspense and biting commentary on identity, featuring Arjun Mathur, Tanmay Dhanania, and Paresh Pahuja. It was stuck with Indian censors for over six months.

Rasika is also back in action with Mirzapur season 3, reprising her role as Beena Tripathi. Sources say her character will have a major impact in the new season, and the entire cast, including Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi, is gearing up for the much-anticipated return.
