Riyadh show unveils next-gen hybrid wave
Saudi Arabia showcased advanced hybrid vehicles with Range-Extended Electric Vehicle technology at the EV Auto Show Riyadh 2025. Chinese automaker Rox Motors unveiled its Adamas model, while Chery Group’s Icaur brand displayed the V27, both featuring improved powertrain systems that convert gasoline into electricity for battery charging.
The V27 delivers 800 kilometers of range and cuts fuel use by approximately half compared with standard engines. Icaur will launch the vehicle in February 2026, with online reservations starting by late November.
Company representatives noted that REEV systems are better suited to high-temperature conditions than pure battery-electric vehicles. The technology addresses Saudi market needs by combining an extended range with reduced petroleum consumption.
The exhibition aligns with Vision 2030 objectives, promoting cleaner transportation. Both manufacturers expect strong local demand as consumers shift toward sustainable mobility options in the kingdom.
