Rubaba Dowla appointed to Bangladesh Cricket Board
A telecommunications executive with extensive experience in sports administration has joined the board of directors at the Bangladesh Cricket Board, becoming just the second woman to hold such a position in the organization’s history.
Rubaba Dowla assumed her new role on Monday after receiving an appointment from the National Sports Council. She takes over the seat previously occupied by Isfak Ahsan, who stepped down following questions about his political connections. Dowla currently leads Oracle’s operations across Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan and previously held senior positions at Grameenphone and Airtel.
Her sports credentials include serving as president of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation and participating on the board of Special Olympics Bangladesh. The last woman to serve as a BCB director was Monowara Anis Minu in 2007. Dowla attended her first board session on Monday as the representative designated by the National Sports Council.
