Ruhul Kabir Rizvi accuses Jamaat of delaying election with referendum plot

BNP’s Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday questioned the timing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s push for a November referendum on the July Charter, suspecting it could be a tactic to delay the national election. Rizvi pointed out that most parties had agreed to hold the referendum on election day to save time and costs. He warned that holding the referendum in November would disrupt election preparations and create confusion. Rizvi accused Jamaat of trying to complicate a straightforward process and of using religion to deceive people for political gain, claiming they exploit faith to divide the public and damage democracy.
