Russia explores education ties with Myanmar academy
Russian education officials toured a Myanmar university on Monday as part of an effort to forge academic partnerships between the two nations.
Andrey Travnikov, governor of Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast, led his delegation to Naypyitaw State Academy, where Rector Dr Nu Nu Lwin outlined the institution’s mission to prepare students through contemporary teaching methods and research facilities that meet global standards. Travnikov and his education minister explained that their region hosts 50 higher education institutions, with Novosibirsk State University serving as the flagship campus for science programs. The visitors inspected campus libraries and laboratory spaces before sitting down with Union Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein.
Talks focused on establishing faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives in artificial intelligence and small business development, student mobility arrangements, and potential study visits for Myanmar’s private school oversight officials. Both sides discussed collaboration opportunities with language students from Yangon and Mandalay. That evening, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin organized a reception at a local hotel where traditional performers from the Department of Fine Arts entertained guests. Transport Minister U Mya Tun Oo joined deputy ministers and other officials at the dinner.
