Sapphire RX 9070 XT melts 16-pin connector
A second Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU has suffered a melted 16-pin power connector, this time on Sapphire’s Nitro+ edition. The GPU was connected via a 3x 8-pin to 16-pin adapter to a Corsair power supply that lacked a native 12VHPWR cable.
The user reported power usage up to 360 watts with a +10% power limit. While this level is within normal range, the adapter may have caused poor load distribution. Similar issues have affected other GPUs, though 300–350 watt cards typically avoid such failures.
Both the ASRock Taichi OC and Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9070 XT models use the 16-pin connector. Users are urged to prefer models with 3x 8-pin connectors and follow all safety instructions closely.
