Sea trials begin for Bulgaria’s first modular patrol ship Brave

Bulgaria’s Navy commenced sea trials for its first multifunctional modular patrol vessel on November 11 in Varna Bay and designated Black Sea zones. The testing represents a milestone in the Defense Ministry’s contract with German shipbuilder Naval Vessels Lurssen for two warships, with acceptance into naval service planned after successful completion.

Construction began symbolically on December 3, 2021, with a steel-cutting ceremony. MTG Delfin shipyard laid the keel for the vessel named Brave on June 17, 2022, before launching it from the dock on August 4, 2023. Weapons and equipment installation have proceeded according to schedule since the launch.
