Shibir panel takes charge of CUCSU

Chittagong University administered oaths to newly elected student union representatives on Thursday at the Social Sciences Faculty auditorium. Vice Chancellor Md Yeahia Akhter led the ceremony that saw 26 central union members sworn in, along with hall and hostel delegates, after a 36-year election gap. The October 15 vote gave the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed slate 24 of 26 central positions.

Ibrahim Hossain Rony claimed the vice president role with 7,983 votes, while Sayed Bin Habib won general secretary with 8,031 votes. Ayubur Rahman Tawfiq from the Chhatra Dal-supported panel secured assistant general secretary with 7,014 votes. Shibir-backed candidates took 17 of 18 secretarial posts, though Executive Member Akash Das skipped the ceremony over social media controversy.
