Shuvosangho leads road safety drive in Zakiganj

A community organization held a traffic safety program at a girls’ school in Zakiganj upazila on Thursday. Bashundhara Shuvosangho officials addressed growing concerns about the Atgram-Zakiganj road, where fatal crashes are regularly occurring. Speakers called for stricter oversight of untrained drivers and poorly maintained vehicles.

The group launched its new upazila committee at the same event. President Md Abul Kalam Azad led the gathering while General Secretary Azadur Rahman managed proceedings. School Head Teacher Ferdous Alam attended as the chief guest, with several faculty members present.

Participants emphasized that legal enforcement alone cannot reduce accidents without public education. The organization plans outreach activities at transport stations to teach drivers and passengers about proper signaling and road discipline. Officials said licensing irregularities must stop to create more responsible motorists across the district.
