Sofia faces snow removal crisis with only four snowplows available
Boris Bonev from “Spasi Sofia” warned on BNT’s Denya starts with Georgi Lyubenov, that Sofia faces a looming snow removal crisis, with only four snowplows available, a drastic shortage compared to the usual 130 to 160 needed for a typical snowfall. He expressed concern that with significant snow, public transport may be blocked, streets and sidewalks may remain uncleared, and the city could experience complete transport chaos.
Bonev also highlighted the upcoming garbage crisis, as extended contracts for waste collection in key Sofia districts, affecting nearly half a million residents, will expire on December 1. He criticized the city’s leadership for not addressing these issues and expressed frustration with Mayor Terziev’s absence at such a critical time, accusing the authorities of either incompetence or neglect.
