Sofia mayor reflects on year two

Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev characterized his second year leading the Bulgarian capital as a period of both celebration and difficulty while speaking to BNT. He acknowledged substantial progress in urban development and achievements worth celebrating, but also pointed to significant obstacles facing the administration.

Financing remains among the most pressing challenges confronting the municipality, according to Terziev. He defended recent parking zone price increases and expansions by explaining that residents would eventually understand how their payments fund infrastructure improvements. The mayor highlighted advances in early childhood education, reporting that 1,365 additional kindergarten spaces have been created, with 15 new facilities under construction and strategic planning underway to address remaining capacity issues.
