Taxi coalition praises Anwar for Budget 2026 support

The Malaysian Taxi Coalition thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Madani government for supporting taxi drivers in Budget 2026. The group’s president, Kamarudin Hussain, praised the government’s decision to set aside RM10 million for training courses to improve taxi service quality.

Kamarudin noted that this funding was part of a proposal the coalition had made last year to improve the image of the taxi industry. The proposal included upgrading old vehicles and offering courses on customer service and communication skills.

Although the full rebranding of taxi services is still underway, Kamarudin said the announcement shows progress. The government also plans to continue tax exemptions on new national cars for eligible taxi and private hire vehicle drivers.
