Teachers storm Shahbagh intersection demanding pay hikes

Teachers and staff from non-government schools blocked the Shahbagh intersection on Wednesday after breaking through a police barrier. They marched from the Central Shaheed Minar to Shahbagh, where the police had set up barricades. The protesters broke through and stopped traffic in the area. They requested a 20 percent house rent, a Tk 1,500 medical allowance, and a 75 percent festival allowance. They also held a march to the Secretariat earlier in the week and stopped work at MPO schools across the country. The protesters said they would stay at Shahbagh until their demands are met.
