Tim Southee uncertain of Ashes involvement due to ILT20 clash

Tim Southee, England’s bowling consultant, is uncertain about his involvement in the upcoming Ashes series in Australia. He is only likely to be available for the first Test in Perth, starting November 21. Southee was added to England’s coaching staff in May as a specialist skills consultant for all formats but his participation in the Ashes is complicated by his commitment to the ILT20, which starts on December 2.

Southee, speaking after the announcement of England’s squad for their T20I series against New Zealand, said they are still finalizing his availability. He will compete against his home country in the T20 series starting this weekend in Christchurch, enjoying his reunion with former New Zealand captain, Brendon McCullum, now England’s head coach.

Regarding the Ashes, Southee dismissed Stuart Broad’s comments about Australia being the “worst team since 2010,” emphasizing that there’s no such thing as a bad Australian team and anticipating a thrilling series.
