Trump brokers ceasefire, but Netanyahu’s gamble looms

President Donald Trump secured a diplomatic win on Monday when leaders gathered in Egypt to sign the ceasefire and hostage release deal he negotiated between Israel and Hamas. However, experts say the real challenge for Trump is keeping Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aligned as the process moves forward. While past U.S. presidents struggled with Netanyahu, Trump’s firm support for Israel has helped him gain influence.

Yet, both sides remain at odds on key points, like disarming Hamas and its role in Gaza’s future. With Israeli elections approaching, Netanyahu’s position may shift, especially if right-wing factions grow dissatisfied with the ceasefire. Trump’s plan, while a step forward, faces many hurdles.
