Turkish experts arrive to investigate Dhaka fire

A Turkish investigative team landed in Dhaka to examine the airport cargo fire that caused billions in losses. The eight specialists met with government officials on Sunday morning to discuss their probe into the blaze at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

First Degree Chief Superintendent Oykun Ilgun leads the delegation that promised complete technical assistance. Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said the collaboration will deepen ties between both nations and advance the inquiry.

The fire started on Friday at the import cargo complex and took 27 hours to extinguish fully. Authorities estimate the damage at 12,000 crore taka, based on assessments by the Exporters Association of Bangladesh.

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced on Saturday that experts from Britain, Australia and China will also join the investigation. The international teams will determine whether mismanagement contributed to the incident and identify those responsible.
