US, Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye back Gaza ceasefire deal

Leaders from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States issued a joint statement on Monday supporting the Gaza ceasefire deal and endorsing lasting peace in the region. Released after a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, the statement marks a rare acknowledgment by the Trump administration that both Palestinians and Israelis deserve equal rights.

The proclamation reframes the Gaza conflict as part of the wider Palestinian issue, differing from previous U.S. positions. However, it does not explicitly recognize Palestinians’ right to self-determination or statehood. Despite not including Palestine and Israel in the declaration, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful future based on cooperation, respect, and shared prosperity.
