Uttar Pradesh promotes cow-based products for Diwali under Vocal for Local drive
In Uttar Pradesh, the “Vocal for Local” and Go Swadeshi campaigns are being taken beyond slogans, with the state government linking cow shelters to the push for self-reliance. This initiative aims to promote cow-based products, enhance cow protection, and support local industries.
The state plans to highlight cow-based items during the Diwali festival, with women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) leading the charge to produce and market these products, like cow dung lamps and idols. The government also intends to establish self-sustaining cow shelters across districts, turning them into tourist attractions and creating new job opportunities.
Officials are also developing plans for the commercial use of cow dung and urine to boost the rural economy. The campaign aims to make cow shelters financially independent and reinforce the “Vocal for Local” message.
