Varna police launch checks on gaming halls

Bulgarian authorities have launched coordinated inspections of gambling establishments, pawnbrokers and quick loan facilities across Varna. Police teams working alongside fire department officials and tax inspectors are verifying compliance with regulations prohibiting minors from entering gaming venues, with parents facing fines between 300 and 1,000 leva for violations that could also result in license revocations for operators.

Economic Police official Iliyan Anestev confirmed that 27 gambling halls were examined during initial sweeps, with inspectors also checking for individuals banned from such premises. Television reporters observed smoking violations inside one Asparuhovo district location, though no citations were issued due to the absence of health inspectorate representatives.

The multiagency effort includes participation from the National Revenue Agency, Labor Inspectorate and Consumer Protection Commission. Operations targeting gaming halls, pawnshops and lending companies will continue through the weekend.
