Vassilev accuses govt of state blockade as NHIF power struggle erupts

Assen Vassilev, leader of “We continue the change,” said the state is blocked. The government, parliament, and daily sessions are not working. Vassilev mentioned that the head of the NHIF removed all powers from the deputy head, Prof. Mavrov. He said different groups are fighting for control over parts of the state.

The order from Assoc. Prof. Petko Stefanovski took power from Mavrov on October 14. It cancels a previous order from March. The revoked powers included overseeing medical activities, budgets, and treatment abroad.

The reason for the removal is not clear, but it raises concerns about stability and transparency in healthcare. This move could hurt the healthcare system in times of political instability.
